Summary

A R&D Technician will be responsible for supporting product development teams in process improvements and product launches by coordinating, building, assembling, integrating, and testing the next generation of our products and 3rd party software and hardware, for the digital signage industry. This position will support all the engineering groups within R&D in various technical and functional aspects of research and development of new products and support of existing products.

A successful candidate will be a team player who can work across multiple functions and disciplines. The candidate should be self-directed and have experience and knowledge of hardware design & computer network concepts, working knowledge of setting up and configuring software solutions, testing, and troubleshooting methodologies.


Responsibilities

  • Ability to develop and consume blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
  • Set-up, validate and test electronics and software related to the LED display industry.
  • Use test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to test electronics.
  • Use software systems to manipulate hardware.
  • Evaluate design elements and provide feedback to team members.
  • Help build prototypes and set-up hardware and software for validation and verification.
  • Plan and organize experiments to evaluate technical feasibility of product ideas.
  • Document test and evaluation results.
  • Partner with Technical Writers to help author product user and install guides and other work instructions.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python is a plus.
  • Knowledge of using tools like Microsoft Viso or other modelling tools is a plus.
  • Fundamental understanding of A/V equipment and related software would be a plus.
  • Interact heavily and actively collaborate with engineering teams throughout our company.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Requires familiarity, coursework or work experience with communications hardware and software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and working across teams.
  • Location: willingness to work full-time at our Danville IL facility

Required Education and Licensing

  • Requires BS or AAS degree: ECE, EE, CE, CS, EET and other technical degrees may be considered. Work Experience as a Technician will be considered in lieu of a BS degree.
