Position: Refrigeration Engineer

Job Description

The Refrigeration Systems Engineer is responsible to set and execute the strategy and vision for refrigerated merchandiser product lines. The Refrigeration Systems Engineer will design and develop new products, have a relentless focus on cost reduction/product improvements to position Federal as best-in-class in our served markets.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • New product development and value enhancement of refrigerated merchandisers, including overall project management
  • Refrigeration system design of self-contained and remote models for all existing and new refrigerated display case models.
  • Ensure that all system designs pass the applicable agency standards. These include UL471, NSF7, ASHRAE 72, CSA, DOE, and EPA standards.
  • Assist in writing and maintaining UL, NSF, CSA, and DOE file reports.
  • Assist in production problems and performance issues that arise in manufacturing.
  • Assist in resolving field service issues as it pertains to refrigeration system design and installations.
  • Review and analyze data acquisition test results in Engineering Test Lab and make appropriate design changes to keep the development process moving forward.
  • Assist with display case mechanical design and building of engineering prototypes for testing.
  • Specify applicable refrigeration components such as compressors, evaporation, and electronic controls. Work with Purchasing and Inventory Control in the ordering of sample components.
  • Develop and execute plans to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Setting parameters and programming electronic refrigeration controls.

 

Education/Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Progressive refrigeration or air conditioning design experience
  • Experience utilizing regulatory standards such as UL, CSA and NSF Standards
