Machine Builder

1st Shift

$24-28 an hour

6 months contract to hire

Troy, MI

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, assembles and/or fits together parts to form complete machine units or subassemblies at a bench or on the floor from engineering documentation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works from detailed assembly drawings and specifications; supports planning of layouts using blueprints, Bills of Materials; identifies and obtains necessary parts and components from stockroom.
  2. Installs mechanical components; Build and interfaces subassemblies using hand and machine power tools, torque wrenches, overhead cranes, and assembly fixtures.
  3. Repairs custom designed machinery and Customer supplied dynamometers.

 

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

 

This general description covers all levels/grades of the job.  Level and grade assignments are determined by the attached leveling guidelines.   Minimum qualifications are outlined below:

 

Knowledge Of:

 

Requires general assembly experience and knowledge of assembly techniques and procedures, mechanical build, high speed rotating equipment alignment, fluid system assembly with internal leak testing, knowledge of mechanical drawing, shop practices, some machining and shop mathematics beneficial.  Must be able to read and understand detail drawings, Bills of Material, assembly drawings and specifications.  Incumbent typically has a high school diploma, certification from a technical school or equivalent experience.

 

Skills Demonstrated By:

 

  1. Ability to accurately interpret assembly drawings/specifications and flow diagrams of fluid delivery and other mechanical components.

 

  1. Ability to inspect and perform mechanical build and assembly.

 

  1. Ability to troubleshoot problems in the assembly process, provide suggestive support for potential Engineering issues.
