We’ve partnered with a dynamic, rapidly growing company specializing in manufacturing and construction. As they expand their operations across multiple states, they are seeking an experienced Controller to join their team. This role will be crucial in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving strategic financial planning.

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities such as financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting financial strategy and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of high-level accounting experience, including expertise in forecasting, projected revenue analysis, multistate tax compliance, and prevailing wage regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning and business decisions.
  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics and performance indicators.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Analyze budget variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with multistate tax regulations, including sales tax, income tax, and property tax.
  • Manage state and local tax audits and coordinate with external tax advisors.
  • Ensure adherence to prevailing wage laws and regulations for construction projects.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of wage compliance reports.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.
  • Stay informed about federal and state laws and regulations affecting financial practices.
  • Utilize ERP software such as Sage for financial reporting, accounting, and forecasting.
  • Lead efforts to optimize financial systems and processes.
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of high-level accounting experience, with a strong background in financial management and reporting.
  • Proven expertise in forecasting, budgeting, and revenue analysis.
  • Experience with Sage software or similar financial systems is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal laws, multistate tax regulations, and prevailing wages.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
