JOB TITLE: Lead Technician – Memphis Venue

Reports To: Assistant Director of AV Services, RCC

FLSA Status: Full-Time: Salaried, Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

  • Execute on all technical aspects of a production. Work with Operations for assignments to lead technicians and PAV production managers interfacing directly with equipment, stagehands, and contract labor for events to ensure proper implementation of goods and services through the production process.
  • Work in warehouse and facilities as assigned by Operations Manager for daily equipment moves, deliveries, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facility operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but are not limited to…)
  • Serve as a technician in variety of roles and disciplines.
  • Lead and help junior technicians and local support labor in accomplishing show related tasks.
  • Work with a PAV Production Manager and/or PAV Show Lead to implement the technical aspects of a show related to assigned role, set up, and operate related AV equipment.
  • Attend site checks as required
  • Relay details (financial, creative, & logistic wants/needs) to Project, Sales, and Account Managers as they change to assist with maintaining an accurate order and bill for clients and venues and overall client satisfaction.
  • Execute on the timeline for production to ensure event planning stays on schedule.
  • Work with Warehouse Staff to ensure assets required for event are available if assets are not available work with project manager and/or Venue TD to pickup/return sub-rentals.
  • Work with Project Managers, TD, and other event staff for efficient Run of Show
  • Maintain working knowledge of all aspects of event for smooth transition to persons assigned to roles (Lead Technicians: General Session, Plenary, Breakout, Exhibits, etc.)
  • Responsible for playing or recording media for Project Manager or client for event display or to transfer media to PAV production manager to deliver to client.
  • Work with Project managers, Show Leads, or PAV CAD tech to understand the detailed drawings of event per client specifications.
  • Update PAVCS account/project manager on orders so they are current throughout planning, run of show, and ready for invoicing at end of event.
  • Excellent customer service skills, applied to external and internal customers equally.
  • Work in facility and warehouse as assigned by Operations for daily tasks when not on an event.
  • Deliver equipment to event sites via company vans and trucks.

  • Have a valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to drive cargo vans and 24’ trucks.
    • Obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card
    • Potentials for increase for obtaining a Class B license

Work Environment:

  • The duties of this position are performed indoors in an office and/or warehouse environment and outdoors as necessary and required by certain events. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during move-in days and event days.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • 5 years industry with AV and/or production leadership roles

Education / Training:

  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Applied Science in Live Sound and Show Production, or a closely related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • General education requirements in the areas of communication, social science, natural science and humanities provide analytical and communication skills as well as a global perspective of diverse cultures.
