HRU Technical Resources is seeking an experienced Principal Embedded Software Engineer to assist a large multinational defense corporation in Sterling Heights, MI.

 

Type of Role: 6 Month Contract (Extension OR direct hire possibility)

Schedule: 1st Shift (9/80 schedule)

Compensation: $70.40/HR

Description: Are you a seasoned expert in the realm of real-time embedded software development? We're actively seeking a dynamic Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our forward-thinking team. In this pivotal role, you won't just be another cog in the machine – you'll be the driving force behind our most ambitious projects. From inception to implementation, you'll lead the charge, overseeing all facets of software development including requirements analysis, architecture design, coding, testing, and documentation. You'll also mentor and guide junior engineers, nurturing their talents and fostering a culture of excellence within the team. Collaboration will be key, as you work closely with other engineering disciplines, ensuring seamless integration and adherence to rigorous engineering standards. Your expertise in object-oriented architecture, C++ coding, and unit testing will be invaluable as we push the boundaries of what's possible. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead efforts in architecting, designing, developing, maintaining, upgrading, porting, and verifying/qualifying embedded product software to enhance project/system functionality.

• Mentor junior software engineers to foster their development and troubleshooting skills.

• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Systems.

• Ensure technical approaches adhere to established engineering principles.

• Ensure cost and schedule targets are met while delivering products that meet customer needs and comply with technical, system, performance, process, and quality requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in real-time embedded software development.

• Proficiency in object-oriented software architecture, design, C++ coding, and unit testing of embedded software with knowledge of requirements-based software verification and traceability.

• Experience in requirements analysis, software design, implementation (code and unit test), and authoring formal deliverable documentation.

• Experience in developing and troubleshooting communications, device drivers, and IO interfaces.

• Experience integrating or testing software on bare metal and with various real-time operating systems such as VxWorks and Linux/Unix derivatives.
