Position Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Department: Behavioral Health Services

Reports To: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Location: In Home (Bakersfield, Taft, Shafter, Arvin, Delano, Wofford Heights, Rosamond, CA, California City, CA)

Position Summary: The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavioral intervention to children and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disorders. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT implements individualized treatment plans designed to teach communication, social, and daily living skills while reducing problematic behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Intervention:

    • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by a BCBA.
    • Use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to deliver therapy sessions.
    • Record and collect data on client progress and behaviors during each session.
    • Use positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with BCBAs, parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistent implementation of treatment plans.
    • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to discuss client progress and strategies.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and timely session notes, data collection, and progress reports.
    • Report any issues or concerns regarding client progress to the supervising BCBA.

  • Training and Development:

    • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
    • Stay current with ABA practices and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Certification:

    • Current RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or experience within the field.
    • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience working with individuals with ASD or developmental disorders (preferred).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of ABA principles and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with individuals with special needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection and documentation.

Work Environment:

  • This position may involve working in various environments including client homes, schools, and community settings.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and sitting on the floor for extended periods.
