Retail company in Plano is hiring:

Assistant Controller

(semi-hybrid, Mon-Th in office, Fri working from home) 

This role will be responsible for some of our more technical processes and procedures and will assist the department in ensuring a timely and successful month end close process. This role will be based in the Company’s Plano, Texas office and report to the Corporate Controller.

 

Responsibilities

·         Review and perform maintenance over balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, identifying potential impacts on revenues, expenses, and financial risk.

·         Ensure appropriate application and documentation of US GAAP for day-to-day transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, lease swaps, and sale-leasebacks

·         Work with external valuation specialist to obtain valuations on acquisitions and ensure purchase accounting is recorded properly

·         Account for ground up builds and apply ASC 842 as required.

·         Perform the accounting and maintain the master lease schedule for Lease Standard (ASC 842) by utilizing Tango lease management software.

·         Responsible for corporate accounts including Debt, Equity, and Corporate Expense accounts (add backs). 

·         Preparation of accurate and timely monthly internal financial statements and external reporting packages (e.g., lenders, landlords)

·         Work with external auditors with a focus on continuous improvement, communication, and efficiency. 

·         Assist in the company’s accounting and month-end close processes

·         As requested, assist with special projects in areas such as M&A deal evaluation, deal structure and due diligence

·         Compile monthly reporting package for lender group and ensure accurate and timely reporting.

·         Manage the fixed asset process and ensure fixed assets are booked in accordance with GAAP.

·         Collaborate with other finance and accounting team members, as well as field personnel, to best support the operations of the Company.

·         Assist in the development of internal controls and work effectively with team for implementation of related processes.

·         Assist with revenue recognition ASC 606.

·         Assist with continuous review and improvement of accounting practices and procedures.

·         Work on ad hoc projects as necessary

·         Initiate and/or complete additional job duties as directed by the Corporate Controller. 

 

Requirements

·         CPA  desired with strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and all technical accounting functions. 

·         6+ years of experience, public accounting background or comparable work experience

·         Experience with retail ASC 606 a plus.

·         Ability to work extended hours as needed.

·         Proficiency in MS Excel

·         Experience using Microsoft Dynamics accounting software is preferred

·         Industry experience within multi-site consumer or retail space a plus
