JOB SUMMARY:

Press Setup duties are the following:

  • Obtain trouble sheet to determine the status of all the presses
  • Check with Press Supervisor to see what needs to run
  • Set Press up
  • Obtain tools from tool crib
  • Ensure everything needed is on cart
  • Go to QC, get blueprint and inspection equipment
  • Remove all old parts off press
  • Submit 1st article pieces to Quality Control
  • Assist in training of new operators
  • Provides press status to shift supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The educational requirement for this job position is a high school diploma or GED. The Press Setup must work as a Press Operator for a minimum of 1 year or equivalent. Equivalent is acceptable.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

The Press Setup must be able to speak clear English. He or she must be able to perform basic mathematics skills up to and including High School level.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The Press Setup must be able to adeptly adapt to changing workload requirements. He or she will occasionally be in awkward or cramped positions. He or she must be able to work frequently at excessive working speeds. He or she must utilize great sensory skills. He or she must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.

The Press Setup must be able to use hand tools, micrometers, calipers, and mechanic tools. He or she must be mechanically savvy.

REASONING ABILITY

He or she must be organized and maintain focus. The Press Setup must be patient and meticulous in efforts to ensure quality parts and organization.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The Press Setup standard of performance is as follows:

  • Must maintain impeccable attendance
  • Must be able to follow direction from supervisor
  • Must pay attention to detail
  • Must ensure the tools are set properly

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Press Setup will be working primarily indoors. He or she will remain mainly in the Press area. The Press Setup must be aware of the mechanical hazards, moving objects, and electrical hazards that are natural in the manufacturing environment. The Press Setup may encounter frequent dust, dirt, heat, fumes, odors, wetness, humidity, and noise in the production facility. When working in the general facility, the Press Setup will note lighting, ventilations, and furnishings are superb, making it an excellent employment environment.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS


The Press Setup must have good communication skills. He or she must be able to read blueprints. He or she must know to read gages. The Press Setup must know how to drive a tow motor. He or she must be very autonomous, energetic and have a desire to work.


The Press Setup must be very patient and have extensive common sense The Press Setup must be able to handle deadlines under pressure and maintain an irregular work schedule while remaining organized.
