To help keep up with our growing client demands, we have an opportunity for Food Service Worker in Bridgewater NJ, 08807 to join our team.

A Food Service Worker is responsible for assisting in the preparation, service, and cleanup of meals in various dining settings, such as restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, or schools. They ensure that food is prepared safely and served efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation:

    • Assist in preparing ingredients, such as washing, cutting, and portioning food items.
    • Assemble simple dishes like salads, sandwiches, and desserts.
    • Reheat or cook pre-prepared meals according to instructions.

  • Serving Food:

    • Serve food to customers, either at a counter, buffet, or tableside.
    • Ensure portion control and proper presentation of dishes.
    • Respond to customer inquiries about menu items, ingredients, or allergens.

  • Cleaning and Maintenance:

    • Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, and dining areas.
    • Wash dishes, utensils, and other kitchen tools, either by hand or using a dishwasher.
    • Empty trash and dispose of waste according to safety guidelines.

  • Stocking and Inventory:

    • Replenish food items and supplies in the kitchen and serving areas as needed.
    • Monitor inventory levels and inform supervisors when stock needs replenishing.
    • Store food products properly to prevent spoilage and contamination.

  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
    • Wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves, hairnets, and aprons, as required.
    • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors immediately.

  • Customer Service:

    • Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and escalate as necessary.
    • Assist with cashier duties, including handling payments and providing correct change, if required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Previous experience in food service is a plus but not always required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a hot, noisy, and fast-paced environment.
