Experience, Education and Training:

  • 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm setting.
  • Prior experience with all phases of civil litigation.
  • Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate.

General Job Description:

Must be self-motivated and able to work at a fast pace, recognize the importance of meeting deadlines, be responsive, extremely organized, with the ability and desire to function as a central member of a team, taking ownership, progressing cases, and coordinating the efforts of partners, associates, paralegals, assistants and office clerks. Absolute reliability is an essential requirement for any candidate. Must maintain a professional demeanor and a high level of client service at all times and have the ability to follow, learn and adhere to the firm’s current litigation processing procedures.

Applicant must possess a very strong grasp of grammar, syntax, and the written English language. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Conduct factual investigation and legal research.
· Participate in client and witness meetings; correspond with opposing counsel/co-counsel, court staff, etc.
· Draft correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, ordinances, agreements, contracts, etc.
· Prepare and comply with discovery requests and document production.
· Obtain and summarize various records (i.e. medical, court, criminal, employment, financial, academic, etc.).
· Prepare subpoenas for document production, deposition and trial appearance/testimony.
· Schedule and coordinate meetings and depositions with experts and witnesses.
· E-discovery review and production.
· Prepare and maintain exhibits for depositions, mediation, oral argument and trial.
· Conduct large document review and prepare summaries.
· Manage and coordinate litigation court docket and deadlines for numerous cases.
· Assist counsel at mediation, depositions and trial.

Knowledge and Skills:

· Knowledge of Court rules and procedural requirements for state, federal and appellate courts.
· Proficiency in electronic filing of pleadings and submissions.
· Knowledge and experience in all aspects of case preparation and representation.
· Critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
