In general: Disassemble equipment or assemblies requiring overhaul and inspection. Assist in determining repairs and replacements required and reassemble with new or rebuilt parts.
1. Fit gate to seats, pack valve stem and complete valve assembly using proper lubricants, seals and gasket materials for each job.
2. Disassemble, inspect and test all rotating equipment or other assemblies received for overhaul or inspection.
3. Assist assigned personnel in troubleshooting/determining repairs required for rotating equipment/other assemblies to be overhauled as well as testing reconditioned and overhauled assemblies.
4. Hand fit, blue and scrap Babbitt, bronze and other bearing shaft materials, shaft tapers, and all critical component fits.
5. Perform rigging required to move, install and maintain machinery and plant equipment under direction, as well as perform a wide varied of mechanical repair/adjustments including torch cutting, filing, drilling, tapping, bearing assembly, brush and brush holder adjustment, insulation and alteration.
6. Perform services on relief and safety relief type valves including disassembly inspection, evaluation, replacement of defective parts, repair and test to rigid industry standards and OEM specifications.
7. Identify outside valve repair requirements, specialized machine work welding or other services and repair as necessary.
8. Repair, fit and lap valves using electronically driven or manual hand cross bar tools.
