Job Description:

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the property, ensuring a hygienic and pleasant environment for clients, employees, and visitors. The role involves a variety of cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing areas to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Cleaning:

    • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
    • Dust and polish, fixtures, and fittings.
    • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors.
    • Empty trash cans and replace liners.

  2. Specialized Cleaning:

    • Perform deep cleaning tasks as scheduled or requested.
    • Shampoo carpets and upholstery as needed.
    • Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs as necessary.

  3. Maintenance:

    • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor.
    • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in good condition.
    • Refill cleaning supplies and request new supplies as needed.

  4. Customer Service:

    • Respond promptly to cleaning requests or concerns.

    • Operate the freight elevator for guests, occupants and tenants

  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow all health and safety regulations.
    • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly to avoid damage or injury.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a cleaner or custodian, preferably in a commercial setting.
  • Ability to handle cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Good physical condition and strength to lift heavy objects.
  • Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves standing for long periods, bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy items.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, depending on the needs of the facility.

Performance Metrics:

  • Quality and thoroughness of cleaning tasks.
  • Timeliness in completing assigned tasks.
  • Feedback from clients and building occupants.
  • Adherence to safety and health regulations.
