Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Specialist - Nocturnist


Location: Salem, Oregon

Position Type: Full-time

Shifts: Graveyard shift in hospital

License Requirement: Active Oregon medical license

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work in both our private clinic and the emergency room of a local Salem hospital, providing comprehensive care for patients with respiratory and critical care needs.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Diagnose and treat a wide range of pulmonary disorders, including but not limited to:
   - Asthma
   - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
   - Emphysema
   - Pneumonia
   - Tuberculosis
   - Lung cancer
   - Pulmonary fibrosis
   - Lung nodules
   - Lung metastases
   - Acute Interstitial Pneumonia
   - Bronchitis
   - Sleep-related breathing disorders

2. Provide critical care services in the hospital's emergency room during graveyard shifts
3. Perform and interpret pulmonary function tests, bronchoscopies, and other diagnostic procedures
4. Manage patients in the intensive care unit (ICU)
5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans
6. Provide patient education on respiratory health, smoking cessation, and disease management
7. Participate in sleep medicine evaluations and treatments
8. Manage complex cases involving multiple comorbidities, including cardiovascular and metabolic disorders
9. Stay updated on the latest advancements in pulmonary and critical care medicine
10. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the practice and hospital

Qualifications:


- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Completed residency in Internal Medicine
- Fellowship training in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine
- Board certification in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine
- Active Oregon medical license
- Excellent clinical skills and experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and handle high-stress situations
- Experience with electronic health record systems

Preferred Qualifications:

- Additional fellowship or certification in Sleep Medicine
- Experience in treating cholesterol-related issues in pulmonary patients
- Familiarity with the latest treatments for acute and chronic respiratory conditions
