The Greater New Haven Transit District is Hiring Part-Time Drivers

GNHTD IS OFFERING A $1,500.00 SIGN-ON BONUS *

The starting hourly wage is $20.00 per hour.

Job Function:

The Paratransit Driver operates authorized vehicles from point to point within the service area and within prescribed time limits based on the computer manifest. Provide courteous and professional passenger assistance, including physical assistance to mobility-impaired passengers, as well as door-to-door pick-ups and drop-offs. Operate wheelchair lifts and secure mobility devices expertly to facilitate clients in boarding and un-boarding the vehicle using skills acquired through training and established procedures.

Minimum Qualification Education and/ or Experience:

• High school education or GED and 6 months of professional driving experience.
• Knowledge of Motor Vehicle Laws. Current CT State License with applicable endorsements.
• Current CT DOT medical examiner's card.

Company DescriptionThe Greater New Haven Transit District (GNHTD) is a municipal corporation established in 1973 under the provisions of Connecticut Public Act 261, Chapter 103(a) for the purpose of operating and providing a variety of transportation programs and services. It is one of eleven regional transit districts in the State of Connecticut that serves 21 New Haven area municipalities and has 10 member towns. The district serves individuals with a permanent or temporary disability as well as anyone from a member town who is over the age of 65 or has a disability.
