For our client, Black Owl Recruiting seeks a registered Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in biological sciences (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology or related fields). 

Technical advisors, (without USPTO registration) may apply, however, non registered Patent Agents must have experience prosecuting patents to be considered.

 

To be successful in this position, the candidate must be able to perform patent-related activities, in the areas of patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis and due diligence.  Those without the necessary qualifications will not be considered.

Responsibilities entail:

  • Managing patent portfolios and coordinating prosecution with foreign associates
  • Drafting office action responses and prosecuting patent applications
  • Working with scientists and inventors to draft patent applications
  • Assessing scientific literature, patents and patent application documents in various biology fields
  • Conducting patent-landscape and freedom-to-operate searches and assist with analysis
  • Liaise with investors to conduct IP diligence for potential investments
  •  Provide assistance with IP diligence on biotech initial public offerings and other capital markets transactions

Our client offers a hybrid work arrangement, in-office approximately 3 days a week in accordance with their published guidelines

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related fields
  • Patent prosecution experience preferred
  • Experience drafting patent applications de novo from invention disclosure forms and/or inventor interviews
  • Ability to present scientific concepts, analysis, reasoning and conclusions to scientists and non-scientists
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, stay organized and exercise attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team setting
