Position Overview: The Assembly Cell Operator is responsible for producing components by assembling parts and subassemblies according to specifications. This role involves preparing work by studying assembly instructions, gathering parts and tools, and ensuring all components are correctly assembled and meet quality standards. The Assembly Technician will also maintain equipment, perform basic testing and quality checks, and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:

  • Component Production: Assemble parts and subassemblies to produce components.
  • Preparation: Study assembly instructions, specifications, and parts lists; gather necessary parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positioning: Use templates or measurements to correctly position parts and subassemblies.
  • Assembly: Ensure correct fit by examining connections; fasten parts and subassemblies securely.
  • Verification: Measure completed components to verify they meet specifications.
  • Maintenance: Keep equipment operational by performing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
  • Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Resource Conservation: Use equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve job results.
  • Documentation: Complete production and quality forms to document actions.
  • Team Contribution: Assist the team by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • Production Monitoring: Monitor the production process and perform basic testing and quality checks.
  • Machine Control Adjustment: Adjust machine controls while monitoring the production process and outputs.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and perform basic maintenance of work areas and machinery.
  • Fault Reporting: Report equipment faults to maintenance staff promptly.
  • Component Assembly: Build components and sub-assemblies into finished electrical or mechanical products.
  • Stacking Goods: Stack goods appropriately for storage or transport.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement activities to enhance production efficiency and quality.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in assembly or manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, specifications, and parts lists.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods and lift heavy components.

Working Conditions:

  • The job may require standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy parts and equipment.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise, chemicals, and other safety hazards.
