Job purpose

Under direction of the Manager, Quality Control, perform a wide variety of duties to evaluate manufacturing processes to assess overall quality levels.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining ISO 9001 QMS records, system, and document control.
  • Assist with periodic ISO department audits.
  • Maintain gage calibration activities.
  • Issue and follow up on Quality Alerts for Quality issues.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards for in-process Quality (i.e. cosmetics, etc.)
  • Partner with R&D to write Quality Plans for new products.
  • Issue in-process audit reports and contribute to corrective action/continuous improvement.
  • Create work instructions as needed.
  • Support process capability studies, statistical process control charts, and pareto analysis of in-process and final inspection results.
  • Prepare and carry out scrap reduction evaluations.
  • Serve as a back-up for final inspectors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as dictated by position responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with GD&T, blueprint reading, and dimensional inspections.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working conditions

Exposure to shop elements making conditions less desirable than usually found in an office.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to move, lift, transport items at minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer/office productivity machinery i.e., calculator, copy machine, printer for a minimum of 6 hours per day.
  • Must be able to remain stationary for a minimum of 2 hours per day.
  • Must be able to detect and correct errors on paper/screens.
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
  • Must be able to move throughout the facility and office area to access file cabinets, office equipment, plant machinery, and other office areas as needed.
