Summary: Support the Commercial loan portfolio working closely with the Commercial Loan Officers. Prepare written loan presentation for new loan requests, renewals and annual reviews. Underwrite loans with respect to the bank’s Loan Policy and underwriting guidelines. Have a thorough understanding of all types of commercial lending transactions. Analyze credit applicants to assess credit worthiness and risk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for researching, examining and analyzing various sources of information, including company financial statements, income tax returns, real estate appraisals, industry/demographic data and credit bureau reports to determine the potential risks of various commercial loan proposals.
- Analyzes and underwrites commercial loans, preparing commercial loan request proposals for approval by Loan Officer and/or Security Committee.
- Prepares a thorough written analysis which includes an analysis of financial statements, economic trends affecting the industry and the borrower, risk rating and suggested credit limitations. Makes recommendation for approval, denial, or alternative loan structures.
- Prepare written loan presentations for new loans, loan renewals and loan extensions, detailing the borrower’s credit worthiness and bringing to attention to any deficiencies in the credit or exceptions to the Bank’s loan policy.
- Perform annual review of loans and lending relationships, collateral review, and cash flow analyses ensuring adherence to loan policies and prudent underwriting criteria.
- Review appraisals for compliance with Bank and regulatory requirements and verify proper loan to value ratios in accordance with bank guidelines.
- Review environmental reports to determine whether properties taken as collateral are in compliance with the Bank’s loan policy.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies as stated in Bank’s Code of Conduct.
- Complete required training including regulatory, systems and others as required by the supervisor based on job duties within the requested time periods.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years commercial credit experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or other relevant area of study.
- Knowledge of accounting, financial statement analysis, and standard commercial loan documentation.
- Must be detail oriented, computer literate; possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact within all levels of the Bank.
- Must be a team player. Employee must be able to relate to other people, receive instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; (b) perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and (c) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person and small group situations with customers, vendors and employees of the organization.
