Purchasing Clerk

Job Summary:

As a Purchasing Clerk with Aeronix, you will be responsible for managing the acquisition of materials, equipment, and services essential for the company's operations. You will work closely with engineering teams to understand their requirements, source appropriate suppliers, and ensure timely delivery of goods. Your role will involve maintaining accurate records, monitoring inventory levels, and supporting the overall procurement process to optimize costs and maintain high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Management:

  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for engineering-related materials, components, and services.
  • Issue purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best possible deals.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing.

Vendor Relations:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Communicate engineering specifications and requirements to suppliers clearly and effectively.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and delivery notes.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with supply chain management, engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to understand material requirements and timelines.
  • Coordinate with accounts payable to ensure timely payment of invoices.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in the procurement function.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering materials, components, and equipment is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn how to purchase through an ERP system.

Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are a plus.
