Millwright


Job Type: Regular, Full Time Positions Supervised: None Work Schedule: OPEN


Position Description

The Millwright position requires knowledge of and hands-on-experience of troubleshooting and maintenance. The position requires experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical drives, electrical applications and metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Must work in full compliance with all approved safety regulations
  • Follow required safety procedures for example lockout/tagout, fall protection, hot work permit and etc.
  • Works from blueprints, diagrams, charts, sketches, and verbal instructions to plan, install, assemble, fabricate, lubricate, test, adjust, inspect, repairs and maintain plant equipment, machinery and structures.
  • Ability to use machinery or equipment, such as Telehandlers and Manlifts, to move or access mechanical parts
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures
  • Determine which machines, techniques, and tools to use
  • Install equipment such as shafting, pulleys and conveyors
  • Align and mount equipment within 0.001" using specialized tools
  • Shim and torque as required for alignment
  • Responsible for specific pieces of equipment under preventive maintenance program.
  • Performs cutting, welding, and brazing as necessary.
  • Makes a written report on Maintenance Work Sheet at the end of each shift.
  • Keeps working area in a clean, safe and orderly condition and performs all work in accordance with plant and departmental rules.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 3 years previous maintenance experience
  • Previous sawmill experience (preferred), industrial manufacturing maintenance experience required
  • Personal maintenance tools are required

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Must be safety conscious at all times.
  • Must practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Ability to cooperate with and coordinate duties with other members of the crew. Should be able to perform work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be competent in reading blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to read and use precision instruments to measure
  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to rebuild hydraulic and pneumatic components
  • Ability to cut and weld

Work Environment Manufacturing Plant Physical Demands

This job requires the ability to sit, stand, lift and/or move. Must be able to tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work OPEN

Ability to work day evening and night shifts, weekends and scheduled long (holiday) weekends.
