Cruise Line Program Manager- Salisbury, MD

 

The Cruise Line Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and successful completion of the interior guest spaces onboard American Cruise Lines’ newbuild ships. The Manager supports all phases of construction that impact hotel related spaces in accordance with design specifications, guest standards, compliance regulations and safety requirements. The Manager reviews, inspects and approves on-site installation of all interior finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.  The Manager works closely with Chesapeake Shipbuilding, outside contractors, Designers and ACL leadership to deliver newbuild ships as contracted. This position is part of the Product Development Team and reports to the Director of Product Development.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as American Cruise Lines’ company representative at Chesapeake Shipbuilding 
  • Provides approvals for interior guest spaces as directed by Senior Leadership
  • Attends daily morning meetings to provide updates and answers during the building phase.
  • Reviews drawings and specifications presented by architects and designers, considering functionality, operational needs, and budget
  • Inspects all trim, cover base, carpet, tile, paint, stain, wallcovering and finishing work.
  • Drafts and presents implementation plans and project timelines.
  • Establishes timeline for move in of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  •  Conducts daily inspections of ships during all phases of construction.
  • Facilitates effective communication between contractors, crew, and management.
  • Ensures construction trades follow plans and build as designed.
  • Generates and distributes reports to provide weekly status updates for each Hull under construction.
  • Coordinates with contractors, architects, designers, and managers to assure the project is completed to specifications and on time.
  • Resolves issues between contractors and vendors.
  • Monitors costs and change orders to ensure the budget is maintained.
  • Performs finals inspections to ensure quality and assurance of work completed prior to ships delivery.  
  • Evaluates results and provides feedback in regard to process improvements and enhancements for future builds.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Management and Cruise Ships
  • Understands construction principles and reading plans and drawings.
  • B.S. in Management, Engineering is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • US Coast Guard regulated pre-employment drug test.

Work Schedule:

  • Position requires the Manager to be on site at Chesapeake Shipbuilding.
  • The typical working schedule is Monday- Friday with weekend support as needed.
  • Approximately 10% travel to existing fleet of ships during cruise season for inspections
