Job Title: Database Administration Specialist-Oracle

Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid Mode of Work)

Position Overview: We are looking for a Database Administration Specialist with extensive experience in Oracle database management, shell scripting, and cloud-based solutions, particularly AWS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our database systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. The role will involve managing Oracle databases (12c/19c), scripting automation tasks, and implementing cloud-based solutions using AWS services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer Oracle databases (12c/19c) to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate routine database administration tasks.
  • Configure and maintain cloud-based database solutions using AWS services, particularly Aurora.
  • Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and data masking.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to troubleshoot database-related issues and provide technical support as needed.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations in coordination with development and infrastructure teams.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in database administration and cloud computing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in database administration, with a focus on Oracle databases (12c/19c).
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation tasks and system integration.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based database solutions, particularly AWS services (RDS, Aurora, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with database security concepts and implementation (user access control, encryption, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Database Specialty) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a hybrid work environment is preferred.
