We are currently looking for a Medicaid Specialist to join our team

Duties and Responsabilites:

  • Explain to the client/responsible party the role/scope of services of the Medicaid Specialist while also explaining to the client/responsible party their rights and responsibilities.
  • Complete the Medicaid application and work with client and support systems to gather required verifications
  • Collaborate with local ADRCs to ensure timely completion of the LTCFS, inform them of the timing of financial Medicaid submission, and update regarding outstanding verifications
  • Coordination with IM agency regarding submitting requested verifications
  • Referral to other specialists when needed including funeral homes, financial planners, and/or elder law attorneys
  • Provide client and family education on the Medicaid process in collaboration with the ADRC
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirments:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
  • Social Work or related field.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field and two years of related experience in place of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Certified Case Manager certification or CMC preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of government policies and legislation regarding benefit options.
  • Patient situation assessment skills, knowledge of the healthcare system and levels of care, patient advocacy skills,
  • Knowledge of the needs of the frail elderly, disabled, and/or cognitively impaired client geriatric population.
  • Experience in performing home visits.
  • Experience with case management.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to assess the cognitive, functional, and social needs of the clients.
  • Ability to interact positively, creatively, and professionally with others.
  • Computer skills (Outlook, MSWord, Internet Explorer)
