Job Summary
- Work at various residential and commercial sites installing radon mitigation systems that includes:
- Drilling, cutting and patching concrete
- Crawlspace encapsulation
- Sump pump replacement/sealing sump pit covers
- Install and repair wiring and electrical components on radon fans.
- Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of radon systems.
General Accountabilities
- Reads plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
- Work with a crew or individually to complete assigned tasks
- Proper use of power tools, able to work off ladders and safely work in attics and crawlspaces.
- Measures, marks, or records openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
- Mixes, pours, spreads, smoothen and finishes concrete or cement.
- Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.
- Electrical skills
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
- Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Connects power cables to equipment.
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
- Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
- Plumbing skills
- Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from pipe installation.
- Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes.
- Cuts openings in walls and floors, as needed, to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
- Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes.
- Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
- Creates negative pressure in piping and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking or has proper pressure.
