About the position

Dayton Valley Fuel & Liquor is seeking a friendly, motivated, and sales-oriented Sales Cashier Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling customer transactions, providing exceptional customer service, and driving sales in our store. This role requires a combination of cash handling skills, sales acumen, and product knowledge to enhance the overall customer experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15 - $17 per hour

Responsibilities

Cash Handling and Customer Service

  • Accurately handle cash, credit, and debit transactions, ensuring all sales are recorded correctly and receipts are provided to customers.
  • Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Address and resolve any customer issues or concerns promptly and professionally.

Sales and Product Promotion

  • Actively engage with customers to understand their needs, make product recommendations, and close sales.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all products, including vaping devices, e-liquids, and glassware, to effectively inform and advise customers.
  • Work towards achieving individual and store sales targets, contributing to the store’s overall success.

Customer Engagement and Sales Support

  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products to maximize sales and enhance the customer’s shopping experience.
  • Inform customers about current promotions, discounts, and special offers to drive sales and increase customer interest.

Store Maintenance

  • Assist in stocking shelves, organizing products, and conducting regular inventory checks to ensure product availability.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the sales floor, checkout area, and product displays.

Store Presentation and Merchandising

  • Assist in setting up and maintaining attractive product displays to encourage sales and enhance the store’s visual appeal.
  • Ensure products are rotated based on expiry dates and popularity to maintain freshness and interest.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with team members and Supervisors to ensure efficient store operations and a cohesive work environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions and procedures to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.

Compliance and Security

  • Ensure all sales are conducted in compliance with store policies and state regulations, particularly regarding age-restricted products.
  • Follow store security procedures to prevent theft and ensure the safety of customers and staff.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as a cashier, sales associate or a similar role.
  • Proven ability to achieve sales targets and handle upselling and cross-selling opportunities effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • High level of accuracy in handling transactions, inventory management, and maintaining records.
