The NYC Elevator Inspector is responsible for witnessing mandated annual category one and/or five-year tests as well as performing periodic inspections for elevators, escalators, and related vertical equipment to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and regulations in the five boroughs. The inspector will verify all vertical systems meet safety standards and are operating efficiently. The inspector will document all findings and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The NYC Elevator Inspector will also work with building owners, managers, and maintenance staff to address any identified safety hazards. The inspector will be responsible to have knowledge of maintaining, installing, inspections, tests, alterations, and mechanical equipment, such as elevator cabs, doors, rails, cables, ropes, sheaves, governors, bumpers, safeties, overloads, relays, door control, step treads, and associated elevator and escalator equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform witnessing of elevators, escalators, and other vertical transportation systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and codes.
  • Perform periodic inspections.
  • Perform Category 1 & 5 elevator evaluations.
  • Document all findings and recommend corrective actions to address any identified safety hazards or code violations.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete inspection reports on all witnessed inspections performed.
  • Stay current with new safety regulations and code changes.

Requirements:

  • A valid NYC DOB Inspectors License is mandatory.
  • A valid NYS Dept. of Labor License is mandatory.
  • At least 5 years of Industry experience.
  • A valid drivers license and own vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of the NYC Construction Codes.
  • QEI Certification (Beneficial)
  • OSHA 10 Safety Certified preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interpret and apply safety regulations and codes.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.

Salary:

  • Starting at $100,000 annually.
