JOB TITLE: Health Technician

FLSA: Non-Exempt

FT/PT: Full Time

THE POSITION


PASADENA HUMANE is currently seeking a Health Technician to join our team. We are looking for people who learn quickly, have strong interpersonal skills and feel passionate about our mission.

The Health team cares for all the pet animals and wildlife entering our shelter. As a Health Technician you will partner with veterinarians to address the husbandry and healthcare needs of each animal on its journey to a forever home. In addition to partnering with veterinarians, Health Technicians work with multiple other teams, including animal control officers, customer care associates, and volunteer services, to ensure that animals become available for placement as expediently as possible.

This position will challenge you to learn a host of animal care skills, population enrichment and engagement needs, communication, and critical thinking skills.  If you are a strong team player who enjoys multidisciplinary approaches to problem solving and have a desire to improve and care for the lives of our shelter animals, then a position as a Health Technician in Husbandry could be a career start for you.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • AA, AS or two years of post secondary education required.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Two years of experience working in veterinary medicine, veterinary hospital kennel technician, animal science, public health, laboratory animal research, doggy daycare, boarding facilities, animal quarantine facility.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Fast-paced environment. Employees are exposed to numerous animals (living and deceased), including those with uncertain dispositions. They are required to act in a safe and responsible manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
