The School-age worker is responsible for planning and supervision of a group of school-age children and any additional staff assigned ot assist with the group of children.

Accountabilities and Major Work Activities:
1. Promote the professional image of the child care Center ni accordance with the rules and regulations established by the Department of Children and Family Services and Just For Kids.
2. Demonstrate commitment and working knowledge of the guidelines for child care established by DCFS and Just For Kids.
3. Actively promote the goal of being the most efficient and effective operation possible.
4. Advise and guide staff ni meeting Center goals.
5. Create and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum in the classroom.
6.Organize a daily classroom routine providing for instruction and stimulation of al skill areas (e.g., cognitive, social, self-help, moral, motor, pre-academic).
Lesson plans should be prepared for evaluation by the Lead Teacher. The School-aged worker will use approved lesson plans for their classroom routines the following week.
7. Communicate regularly with parents about classroom activities and goals. 8. Maintain a record of each child's development including narrative descriptions, samples of work, and notes concerning any communication
with parents.
9. Provide for the continuous supervision of the children in their care and implement and abide by al safety and security precautions established by the Center. Children are never ot be left without adult supervision.
10. Establish and maintain a close working relationship with al staff assigned to them for assistance and supervision.
11. Carry out frequent classroom observations and allow time for consultation by other teaching staff.
12. Be familiar with and maintain curriculum idea files and professional library. 13. Participate ni self-assessment for the creation of a staff training, agenda.
Provide the director with personnel and program evaluations. Collect information concerning program operation and staff performance
and communicate this information in both written and verbal form to the director.
15. Responsible for willingness to be flexible to perform other job related tasks as the need arises to maintain a quality program.

Qualifications:
1. School-age workers must have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
2. School-age workers must be at least 19 years of age and at least five years older than the oldest child with whom they work.

Newly employed school-age worker responsible for a group of school-age children must have achieved:

a. Thirty semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university with six semester hours (or nine
quarter hours) related to school-age child care, child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, camping or
other related fields; or

b.1560 clock hours of experience in a recreational program or licensed day care Center serving school-age children or alicense exempt school-age child care program operated by a public or private school, and six semester hours (or nine quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university related to school-age child care, child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, camping or other related fields; or

c. A high school diploma or equivalency certificate plus 3120 clock hours of experience in a recreational program, kindergarten, or licensed day care Center serving school-age children or a license exempt school-age child care program operated by a public or private school.

5. Completion of a training program accredited by the American Montessori Society or Association Montessori International may be substituted for the courses directly related to child care and/or child development required by this Section. Persons holding a Montessori pre-primary credential may supervise children through age six. Persons holding a Montessori primary or elementary credential may supervise children six years of age or older. 

6. Persons who were deemed qualified as a child care worker or school-age worker prior to January ,1 1985, continue to be deemed qualified as school-age worker.
7. School-age workers shall be responsible for the planning and supervision of a group of children. Early childhood workers and school-age workers shall also be responsible for supervising persons assigned to assist their group who are not similarly qualified.
8. Current First Aid and CPR (adult/child/infant) certifications

9. Physical abilities to lead and participate in active sports and games with children,  monitor behavior requiring physical separation and participate in curriculum activities and housekeeping responsibilities.
10. Experience with youth
11. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
12. Ability to adequately observe participants activities, enforces safety regulations, and applies appropriate management techniques
13. Follow all departmental and school rules, regulations and procedures
14. Current medical report and tuberculin test.
15. No criminal conviction of a felony, violent crime, or any crime involving moral turpitude, child abuse or neglect.

Summer:  9am -6pm with an  hour lunch 
School year:  6am - 9am & 2pm - 5pm  before and after care. 
Ability to operate a 12 passenger van is a plus.
