Mechanical Maintenance Technician

1ST SHIFT - Monday to Friday (occasional Saturdays)



Summary:


The Mechanical Maintenance Technician performs maintenance and repair of heating treating equipment, mechanician systems, buildings and auxiliary equipment.


General Qualifications Include:

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to effectively use hand tools
  • Desire to learn and advance, actively engage in training activities
  • Ability to withstand shop and outdoor conditions (hot/cold, dirty)
  • Ability to work as a team, able to switch activities as needs arise, willingness to perform tasks ranging from simple to complex


Specific qualifications includeexperience, proven knowledge, and skill (3-5 years experience) inanyof the following areas (multiple areas is preferred):


Mechanical:

  • Disassemble, replace parts and reassemble pumps, drives, indexers, motors, gearboxes etc.
  • Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Pipe threading
  • Soldering and brazing copper pipe


Fabrication:

  • Welding
  • Machining
  • Cutting with torch or plasma cutter


Electronics and Controls:

  • Programming PLCs, Motion Controls, temperature instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace controls
  • Install and integrate sensors, switches, safeties with existing controls


Electrical:

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams
  • Ability to use Voltmeters and Amp meters to test circuits
  • Install electric motors, starters, relays, PLCs, & instrumentation
  • Run electrical conduit and wiring
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems




Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • 5 years working experience within a heavy industrial environment or as a maintenance mechanic, millwright, or related furnace operations capacity.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Exposure to basic electrical, specifically 3- phase motors
  • Experience welding is a plus.
