The position requires relocation to commuting distance to Wilson, NC. The location is an hour away from Raleigh, 45 minutes from Greenville NC, and less than two hours to the NC “inner banks” of fantastic natural features and beauty. The locations have very little traffic, and as we have built the team, professionals who have relocated here from more congested areas report that they are unlikely to return to that lifestyle.

East Energy has two large-scale WTE projects, currently under construction. Our small team has done deployed in excess of $100M toward clean energy projects. We have a strong “promote from within” ethic from top to bottom and are looking for a professional who will become a strong member of the team. The pathway to promotion within the company is open to all levels of management positions, and the opportunity offers the unique situation of a small company (< than 30 employees)—and all the room for growth implied there—combined with the big company stability of projects based on very firm 15-year utility revenue and supply contracts.

Specific Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Duties

• Start, shut down, operate unit and associated plant equipment, within limits, for maximum efficiency and output while maintaining environmental compliance and safety.

• Coordinate shift operation activities on the unit to minimize impact on generation; advise plant management when proposed operation or maintenance activities affect availability of generation.
• Inspect and maintain plant equipment, steam turbines, power boilers, turbine driven generators, mechanical and electrical auxiliaries, fuel systems, lubricating systems, and water recirculation and treatment systems; coordinate the activities of floor operators assigned to support the equipment being operated.
• Monitor/record equipment conditions using all indications available in the control room, on site, and portable test equipment.
• Diagnose equipment problems, trend performance report abnormal conditions to plant management, with ways to resolve and prepare detailed work requests for plant defects.
• Inspect plant equipment record on shift reports prepare defect reports; ensure maintenance requests are completed to a satisfactory standard; job is not complete until area is clean ensure the plant work requests are properly submitted through the work management system; assist in planning, organizing, and executing unit outages for inspections, overhauls, repairs and cleaning.
• Read, interpret, and implement technical information found in manufacturers, OEM technical manuals, electrical and mechanical P & IDs, and operating and maintenance procedures.
• Assist in the planning and layout of jobs including parts and equipment identification and ordering needed to complete the job.
• Opens and closes valves as required for proper system operation and
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Prepare work permits and administer the LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out) system as it applies to the equipment for which the Control Room Operator is responsible.
• Perform all activities in accordance with applicable health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Utilize computer and other technology-based work management systems as may be required in performing work duties.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance the skills required to perform all Control Room and floor Operator/Mechanic duties and assist in the training of others.
• Make daily checks to ensure safety and cleanliness of the plant is maintained to a high standard,
• Operator/Mechanics carry out scheduled operational checks.
• Ensure that the daily housekeeping is completed and not more than 1/8 of dust on any ledges, beams, equipment, or floor.
• Conduct shift change by fully briefing the incoming Control Room Operator and ensure all floor Operator/Mechanics assigned to the plant under the control of the Control Room Operator fully brief their reliefs.
• Conduct the daily shift safety meeting.
• Can learn and test for ORC license.
• Perform maintenance activities as required in support of the overall maintenance of the plant.
• Perform disconnect switching and electrical and maintenance operations to place equipment in and out of service. Know the ARC flash standards.
• Monitor and, as necessary, perform routine chemical analysis of plant water to determine the chemical constituents and take corrective action to maintain plant quality within prescribed limits as required.
• Prepare, maintain, and administer procedures and reports related to the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the plant; maintain accurate logs of daily operation, check sheets,
• Prepare and maintain quality assurance procedures and technical instructions and actively support and participate in the use and continuous development of the quality management system.

• Assist other classifications as may be required.
• Clean, paint, and lubricate equipment
• Conduct and assist OJT instruction of other operators and/or trainees
• Maintain housekeeping standards in all areas of plant as assigned
• Will be required to coordinate the work of others
• Respond to overtime requests as needed, handle special assignments, and perform related work as required.
• Operates plant equipment (trucks, end loader, forklift)
• Controls visitor and contractor access to the site. Maintains site security.

Qualifications and Experience

Required Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent education.
• Candidates must receive a rating of “Recommended” on the company’s Pre-Employment Skills Assessment.
• Basic computer knowledge
• Must have knowledge of job safety requirements, strong verbal and written communications skills, interpersonal skills and possess a demonstrated ability to learn. Complete an electrical power plant operating training program and possess or be prepared to obtain certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three to seven years of operating and/or maintenance experience as a power plant operator or Control Room Operator in a power plant.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Physical requirements include standing for extended periods requiring stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
• All personnel will participate in a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

Schedule

DuPont Schedule is used. This position requires working twelve hour rotating shifts with the possibility of overtime, weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions.

The DuPont, or also called the DuPont 12 hour schedule is a fixed 28-day rotational cycle in which each employee works in 12-hour shifts. It involves 4 teams working an equal number of day and night shifts over a 4-week period. The DePont shift schedule typically consists of 14 12-hour shifts, which comes down to an average of 42 hours of work per week.
