Our Indianapolis, Indiana-based client is seeking a Human Resources Generalist/Manager who will be responsible for developing and implementing people and HR strategies that align with the overall business mission.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports and carries out the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Recommends, enforces, and facilitates HR policy and procedures. Makes necessary changes or additions as needed.
  • Administers and oversees human resources initiatives including, but not limited to, recruitment, compensation, payroll, benefits, leaves of absence, workers' compensation, employee relations, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance management, productivity, recognition, and training and development.
  • Maintains and updates the company handbook.
  • Supports and actively assists management with issues regarding human resources policies and practices.
  • Performs industry compensation analysis and provides data to management to ensure the organization remains competitive.
  • Oversees all aspects of recruiting and hiring. Creates job descriptions and employment ads. Conducts pre-employment verifications and background checks. Prepares and presents offer letters and integrates and onboard new employees into the company.
  • Manages and oversees the performance management and disciplinary action process up to and including terminations. Coaches and develops managers on best practices.
  • Oversees the Safety program and the work of the Safety Manager.
  • Mitigates organizational risk and stays abreast of legal and regulatory developments that impact the organization and human resource functions.
  • Responds to training and development inquiries and needs. Develop employee promotion and retention strategies.
  • Seeks ways to establish a more enriching work culture. Administers and coordinates employee recognition programs and plans company events.
  • Sources for and makes recommendations for new or improved benefits plans. Maintains relationships with insurance brokers.
  • Maintains and updates personnel files and records.
  • Acts as the liaison between the organization and legal counsel; reviews contracts.
  • Maintains compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Skills & Requirements
Education & Experience

  • Minimum of five years experience as an HR Manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an HR-related field preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification desired.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of labor laws
  • Personable, enthusiastic, and committed to the mission, goals, and values of the organization.
  • A team-focused and collaborative attitude.
  • The ability to deal diplomatically and relationally with a wide range of employees.
  • Able to work independently, proactively, and with little supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Seeks ongoing personal development and growth.
