Job Description

The successful Building Inspector will first and foremost be extremely reliable, pro-active and have superior customer service skills. This position requires a responsible individual who can commit to being at work, being at work on time and who has specific knowledge of building code compliance. Previous experience in building inspections for residential rental properties, with building systems required. The position entails:

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Extensive Travel to PACT/NYCHA building sites
  •  Conduct in-unit inspections (2 times per year)
  • Conduct quarterly building inspections (basement to roof)
  • Performing detailed inspections and relaying inspection results (reports) in a timely manner.
  •  Taking photographs and logging findings in app software.
  •  Perform inspections on subsidize units to ensure each are in accordance with city code enforcement, HUD and CMHA’s regulations.
  • Certify in property maintenance, residential building, residential mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
  • Repair and maintain HVAC systems.
  • Inspect home construction to include proper placement of walls, fixtures and HVAC.
  • Conduct habitability inspections per HUD standards.

 

Skills/Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience with Building Code Compliance and Inspections (preferred)

• Great verbal and written communication skills

• Proactive work ethic and attention to detail

• Must be upbeat, polite, courteous, and tactful

• Proven ability to operate selflessly as part of a dynamic team

• Adhere to company policies and procedures

• Proven ability to multi task

• Prior experience in a fast-paced environment

• Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) a plus

• Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle required

• Perform other duties as assigned
