Field Heavy Machinery Mechanic

Position Overview: As a Field Heavy Machinery Mechanic at Axis Contracting, Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of our heavy machinery fleet. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of heavy equipment. This position requires a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and a dedication to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  2. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques.
  3. Perform repairs and replacements of defective parts, components, and systems, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  4. Collaborate with the equipment operations team to prioritize maintenance schedules and address equipment downtime efficiently.
  5. Respond to emergency repair requests in the field, troubleshooting issues and implementing timely solutions to minimize project delays.
  6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including service reports, parts inventory, and equipment history.
  7. Provide technical support and guidance to equipment operators on proper usage, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
  8. Adhere to company safety policies and procedures,
  9. Stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and equipment innovations to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a heavy machinery mechanic.
  3. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.
  4. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a variety of equipment types and brands.
  5. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members and clients.
  8. Valid driver's license and clean driving record; willingness to travel to job sites across the Dallas area.
