Field Technician (NC/SC)

Pay: $22-$24/hr

Position Summary

We offer our utility clients a variety of energy-saving and renewable energy solutions. Our clients include utility customers, contractors, municipalities, and government bodies who rely on our tailored energy efficiency programs to meet their energy-saving goals.

This role involves installing, removing, modifying, inspecting, and servicing Direct Load Control (DLC) devices. Services are primarily for residential markets. Safety, courtesy, and compliance with company standards are crucial.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, modify, remove, and service DLC devices.
  • Demonstrate basic HVAC technical skills.
  • Work with electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles.
  • Understand and navigate air conditioning systems.
  • Maintain a professional appearance as a representative of our organization and clients.
  • Ensure customer specifications and company quality standards are met.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate in a team to improve operations continuously.
  • Occasionally travel on weekends to meet customer needs.
  • Participate in the On-Call Rotation for after-hours service calls.
  • Conduct inventory counts and submit reports as requested.
  • Assist in cleaning and organizing warehouse locations and fleet vehicle areas.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles are equipped with safety products and are kept clean.
  • Perform routine vehicle safety inspections and submit reports.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in basic wiring, lighting, HVAC, troubleshooting, or related technologies.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude required.
  • Basic construction knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of building science/energy auditing.
  • Preferred experience in installing technologies, manual labor, and using tools.
  • Preferred background in building science and design, building envelope, weatherization, building maintenance, home inspection, HVAC, lighting, controls, or renewable energy.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Experienced in mapping and route navigation.
  • Ability to handle varied work and fast-paced environments.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong data entry skills for tracking systems/databases.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with customers, clients, and employees.
  • Ability to analyze data and solve practical problems.
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel at least 95% of the time, including occasional overnight travel.
