McCollister's Global Services is looking for a Tractor Trailer Mechanic to work in our Paterson NJ facility.

Job Summary:

Perform all tractor and trailer repairs, estimation, diagnosis and corrections. Follows standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Completes routine repairs, rebuilds and replacements. Makes best value and safety decisions to continue to operate, repair or replace. Performs technical repairs and/or replacement. Uses American Trucking Association (ATA) system and other published and internet-based manuals and check sheets. This position reports to a manager or Lead Technician.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Follows workplace and vehicle safety procedures consistently.

Follows MSDS training and guidelines.

Perform proper Preventive Maintenance such as lube, filters, inspections, truck appearance, interior and exterior, cab related, safety checks and Security.

Perform DOT Inspections.

Perform tires analysis such as proper inflation, rotation, wear, and reconditioning of wheels.

Understand Shop security and alarm systems

Follow company initiated housekeeping standards.

Direct/Indirect labor accountability (completing personal paperwork)

Perform basic computer skills for company related initiatives.

Assist in parts inventory management.

Inspect, repair, rebuild, replace drive-line components.

Remove and replace transmission and clutch (R&R), steering & chassis components and fuel system diagnostics.

Perform facility and equipment audit inspection, safety and environmental.

Perform brake system diagnostics, air, hydraulic, and ABS

Processes all paperwork and directs shop activities in the absence of supervisor.

Perform basic welding

Perform fifth wheel service and rebuilds

Perform diagnostic computer skills

Perform citation corrections and sign off.

Perform basic road call and on road repairs

Perform suspension inspection and repair

Perform basic electrical engine electronics diagnostics, ELD installation and repair, and lighting systems repair.

May perform basic accident repairs on tractors or trailers.

Must be able to communicate with internal customers (i.e., other shop associates, drivers, other maintenance shops, etc.) on such things as wait times, reasons for repair decisions and status updates.

Perform basic hydraulic diagnostic and repairs

Perform basic trailer chassis and frame repairs

Requirements

Must have a valid CDL-A license (or the ability to obtain a CDL-A) with an acceptable driving record.

Own necessary basic tools.

Technical or advanced degree or equivalent experience.

Exposure to windows-based computer systems, preferred.

Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.

Successfully demonstrated problem solving skills.

Excellent teamwork and customer service skills, including good oral and written communication skills.

Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs. or more without restriction

Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions

Must be able to work in environment with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction

Must be able to stand or lie for extended periods of time in order to repair equipment

Must be able to have flexible movement: to reach equipment and/or parts and maneuver equipment
