JOB TITLE: Firewall Network Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Network Operations Center

REPORTS TO: Mikhail Vdovichenko

EFFECTIVE START DATE: As soon as possible

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Firewall Network Engineer to join our team. This role involves managing and maintaining our firewall infrastructure, designing and deploying network solutions, and ensuring the security and efficiency of our network systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with IT network infrastructure, security protocols, and advanced network technologies, and will be able to handle complex issues in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Firewall Management:
    • Oversee and maintain the firewall infrastructure to ensure optimal security and performance.
    • Perform regular updates, patches, and configuration changes to keep the firewalls secure and efficient.
  • Network Solution Development:
    • Design and deploy network solutions including LANs, WANs, VPNs (site-to-site/client-to-site), firewalls, switches, and routers.
    • Develop and implement network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Documentation:
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation related to network and security architecture.
    • Update documentation to reflect changes and support long-term network and security planning.
  • Incident Response:
    • Provide Level 3 support for network security and operational incidents.
    • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network security issues.
    • Conduct thorough post-event analysis and recommend improvements to prevent future incidents.
  • Network Monitoring:
    • Perform regular tests and monitoring of network security and performance.
    • Analyze network traffic, identify potential security threats, and take appropriate action.
  • Network Design:
    • Research and participate in the design and implementation of network and network security architecture for IT systems.
    • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance network design and security.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong working knowledge of IT network infrastructure, network security, and operating software.
    • Advanced understanding of security protocols, cryptography, and network security practices.
    • Familiarity with 802.1x and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
    • Advanced understanding of WAN technologies, including SD-WAN.
    • Proficiency in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and high-availability protocols (HSRP, VRRP).
  • Certifications:
    • CCNP Routing and Switching (CCNA minimum).
    • Fortinet Certified Professional (FortiGate Firewalls, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager).
    • Working knowledge of Cisco Firewalls.
  • Virtualization:
    • Experience with VMware vCenter/ESXi and Hyper-V.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Ability to manage complex issues and apply root cause analysis.
    • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
    • Ability to implement new systems and tools effectively.
    • Strong work ethic and commitment to responsibilities.

Work Conditions:

  • Availability:
    • Ability to work on-call and at customer sites as required.
    • Flexible working hours, including nights and weekends, to complete tasks or resolve issues.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Capability to move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Use of personal vehicle for transporting equipment to customer sites.
  • Vacation Restrictions:
    • No vacation during August 1-31, September 1-15, December 20 – January 8.
