Early Childhood Educator -Assistant

Full time/Hourly

Preferred availability: Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM

General Description:

The Early Childhood Educator will be working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old and potty-training. The educator will be responsible for assisting with lesson plans activities, screenings and assessments, supervising children, communicating with parents, adhering to the policies of Mom’s House, and maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children. Classrooms have a small ground size – no more than 10 children with a co-teacher.

Follow a school-year schedule with typically reduced hours during the summer months and closure between Christmas and New Year.

Mission-driven organization that strives for breaking the cycle of poverty in low-income single families. The Early Childhood Education program is just one component of the wrap around services provided to the parents and children within our program.

Education Qualifications:

AA in Early Childhood Education or related field is strongly preferred.

Knowledge or Background in the following is preferred:
Creative Curriculum, Human Development/Family Studies, Social Service industry, Step Up to Quality, ASQs, Teaching Strategies GOLD, ODJFS licensing rules & requirements.

Personal Qualities and Special Job Characteristics

  • Must be physically able to perform the job of Early Childhood Educator including lifting, shifting, and maneuvering weight up to 50 pounds
  • Must have a warm supportive attitude toward children
  • Must be reliable and dependable
  • Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes within the program/organization
  • Must be willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance
  • Must be willing to perform the duties as required
