Role: The Legally Exempt Coordinator is responsible for enrolling Legally Exempt Family Child Care, Legally Exempt In-Home Child Care and Legally Exempt Group Child Care providers in both Dutchess and Putnam Counties. The Legally Exempt Coordinator reports to the CCR&R Manager.

Typical Legally Exempt Responsibilities:

  • Enroll legally exempt provider according to guidelines set by NYS OCFS.
  • Maintain case files and appropriate entries into CCFS in the time, manner and form required by OCFS.
  • Continue professional development in the field by attending job-related activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Role: The Referral Specialist is responsible for educating parents about child care, providing appropriate referrals and maintaining an accurate database for referrals and statistical purposes, with a primary focus on provider data. The Specialist is also responsible for Legally Exempt procedures. The Specialist reports to the Assistant Director.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Respond to parent inquiries about child care or early education options by supplying basic counseling to include: actively listening to parent needs; clarifying the need; and educating the parent about available early childhood programs, program regulations and the parent’s local options.
  • Provide families with comprehensive information on child development, provider relationships, subsidies, etc.
  • Accurately enter client and provider information into the referral database.
  • Maintain, update and expand provider files in the referral database to support the needs of families and to ensure that accurate reports and data can be accessed.
  • Produce accurate reports from referral and/or provider database as needed in a timely manner.
  • Represent the Agency in the community by participating in various activities and promoting the services of the Referral Service.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Serve clients whose first language is not English.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education/Training

  • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood/related field preferred
  • Bilingual/Spanish speaker preferred

Experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication, listening and phone skills
  • Excellent computer literacy and keyboard skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Internet skills
  • Experience working with multi-ethnic populations
  • Minimum two years experience in child care or a related field
  • Meet travel requirements of the position
  • Computer/database experience required
  • Second language preferred
