Classification Caregiver Reports to: Supervisor of Care

Qualifications & Requirements:

1. Must be 18 years of age

2. Possess ability to communicate in English effectively and write legibly

3. Ability to understand and carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal

4. Ability to record messages and keep simply records

5. Two years full time experience with senior or disabled citizens preferred

6. Training and experience in basic nursing procedures, CNA preferred

7. Current certification in CPR and First Aid

8. Ability to accept correction and close supervision

9. Willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks that may involve unpleasant conditions and maintain patient and tact

10. Ability to acquire knowledge and develop skills in simple nursing procedures

11. Willingness to submit to random drug testing as needed

12. Has and maintains a clean and well-groomed professional appearance

13. Possess a kind, genuine interest combined with the ability to work with senior/ geriatric persons

14. Ability to maintain a pleasant, courteous manner with residents and personnel

15. Organized and orderly in the daily care of the residents

16. Good physical health with no limitations

17. Good mental health and emotional maturity

18. Maintain awareness of infection control as it pertains to nursing

Responsibilities:

1. Provides a suitable living environment for residents by giving attention to cleanliness,

ventilation, lighting and furniture arrangements

2. Assists residents to ensure their cleanliness; bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, fingernail and toenail care (not diabetic), skin care, shaving, and genital care

3. To care for and keep the residents clean and dry by monitoring those who are incontinent

4. Keeps residents living environment neat and clean at all times

5. Assists in light housekeeping duties as needed

6. Preserves the dignity and self -respect of all residents at all times

7. Practices confidentiality about the residents and care activities

8.Keeps alert to the residents' conditions and reports changes in the residents' attitudes, appearance, behavior and physical ability to the Supervisor of Care.

9. Is aware of infection control procedures

10. Practices conservation of medical equipment and supplies, keeping them clean and ready for use

11. Practices first aid measures as applicable

12. Promptly answer call signals

13. Assists residents in their recreational and social activities as instructed

14. Recognizes the individual emotional, social and cultural needs of residents, including their religious beliefs

15. Attends orientation and in-service training meetings

16. Keeps written notes of specific assignments and records pertinent information about the residents, completes Resident Flow Sheet at the end of each shift.

17.Assists the resident with nourishment, as necessary

18.Monitors food and liquid intake and document amounts taken

19. Bed-making with linen and towel changes

20. Removes soiled linens from resident care areas

21. Observes residents ingest medications which are self-administered, as needed

22. Physically assists the resident in or out of chairs or assist the resident when walking

23. Closely monitors residents who are confused or agitated

24. Assists with personal laundry services, as needed

25. Assists with dressing and personal care with the residents

26. Assists with all activities of daily living

27. Reports all repairs needed to maintenance

28.Additional duties as required
