Job DescriptionJob Description

Kreider Farms, a large family-owned egg and milk producer/manufacturer in Lancaster County, PA, is currently looking for a Director of Cost Accounting.  The primary responsibility of this position is to accurately maintain the accounting records of the company by managing inventory and cost accounting; recording related journal entries; and generating and analyzing financial and operational reports. 

 

Essential Job Duties

·        Oversee the activities of the Cost Accounting department to ensure accurate, timely and complete processing of inventory and cost accounting activities.

·        Prepare, analyze, and distribute actual purchasing and manufacturing costs compared to expected production costs and partner with the Operations to understand/research variances.

·        Document, implement, and maintain internal control procedures/policies and operational improvements within the Cost Accounting and Inventory processes.

·        Partner with other departments to develop system setup parameters for Items, Bills of Material (BOM’s), and Routes capture required information to process production in the ERP system.

·        Collaborate with all areas of the Accounting team to implement and execute appropriate month-end Close procedures to ensure proper recording of financial transactions on a monthly basis with a focus on journal entries related to the Cost Accounting and Inventory processes.

·        Create/Maintain Balance Sheets reconciliations on key accounts on a periodic basis.

·        Prepare, analyze, and distribute reports and analyses to support the financial records of the organization and/or to assist departments outside of Accounting in meeting business needs.

·        Assist with both internal and external audits to ensure complete, timely and accurate responses to information requests.

·        Evaluate/implement existing modules/functionality in the new ERP System in related areas (i.e., Cost Accounting, Inventory Management, Item Setup, etc.).

 

Required Skills/Abilities

·        Requires knowledge of GAAP standards

·        Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills

·        Advanced Excel skills

·        Thorough understanding of ERP and accounting software

·        Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally and support functional areas of business

 

Education and Experience

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field

·        Minimum 4 years of experience in cost accounting in internal manufacturing environment

·        Requires prior supervisory or management experience
