JWEMC Communications, LLC, dba Flash Fiber, is located in North Alabama. We are seeking an individual for the position of Director of Fiber IT.  Flash Fiber serves almost 14,000 accounts in Morgan and Lawrence County, Alabama, and we are growing daily.  We are headquartered at 25700 AL Highway 24, Trinity, AL.

Position Summary: The Director of Fiber Information Technology (IT) is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing all aspects of JWEMC Communications, LLC’s (Flash Fiber) computer, communication, and network systems to ensure all systems work efficiently and reliably. The position is responsible for supervising Fiber IT staff and ensuring that the staff provides for the computer, network, and communication needs.  Must be highly motivated and function autonomously to manage and operate our advanced network.  The position requires hands-on support for implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic transport technologies, packet IP technologies, and multi-gigabit services based on GPON, FTTX and other last mile technologies.

Requirements: A BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field is required.  A minimum of five (5) years’ experience of progressively responsible management experience as well as database management, networking, computer operations, fiber/optical systems troubleshooting, and use of system utilities is required. Desired certifications include CISCO CCNP, Juniper JNCIE-ENT, Adtran ATSA, or higher for routing and switching, security and wireless; CISCO CCNA; VMWARE VCP; MCSA; MCSE; CompTIA A+; CompTIA Network; and CompTIA Security. Experience and skills in one or more of the following are highly desired: DWDN transport optics, switching & routing, network design & operation, service overlays (SD-WAN, E-VPN, VPLS, L3VPN, etc.).

Location: The Director of Fiber IT is a hybrid position requiring both remote and onsite work objectives. Flash Fiber’s area covers Morgan and Lawrence County, Alabama.  This position has a residency requirement within 40 miles of the reporting location.  This position requires occasional work during overnight maintenance and after-hours support.
