Sanitation Technician

Overview:

As a Sanitation Technician on the night shift at our Cherry Packing Facility, you will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards to ensure the safety and quality of our packed cherries. Your primary responsibility will be to sanitize all packing equipment and surfaces following daily packing operations, preparing the production line for the next day. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to upholding sanitation protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment and Surface Sanitization:

• Disassemble, clean, and sanitize all packing equipment, including conveyors, sorting tables, and packaging machinery, using approved cleaning agents and sanitizers.
• Thoroughly sanitize all surfaces in the packing area, including floors, walls, and countertops, to remove any residue or contaminants.
• Pay close attention to high-touch areas and areas prone to accumulation of debris or spills.

Preparation of Production Line:

• Prepare the production line for the next day's packing operations by ensuring all equipment is clean, sanitized, and in working order.
• Set up packaging materials and supplies, such as boxes, bags, and labels, in readiness for the packing crew.
• Coordinate with production supervisors to ensure a smooth transition between sanitation and production activities.

Adherence to Sanitation Protocols:

• Follow established sanitation procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear while handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning schedules, checklists, and inventory of cleaning supplies.

Team Collaboration:

• Communicate effectively with other members of the sanitation team and production staff to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
• Report any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or sanitation concerns to supervisors for prompt resolution.
• Support and assist co workers as needed to meet sanitation goals and deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in sanitation or janitorial work in a food production facility preferred.
• Knowledge of sanitation procedures, chemicals, and equipment used in food processing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions closely.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that require standing, bending, and lifting.
• Flexibility to work night shift hours and adapt to changing production schedules.
