Lead Artisan Teacher

Are you often told you’re the loudest in the room, even with an electric sander whirring? Are you confident with a nail gun or open to learning from a team of strong artists? Are you good under pressure and have the problem solving skills of Olivia Pope?

We offer a variety of art classes for adults and kids, from sign creations to resin pours. Our studio is always expanding and you would be assisting customers to create their masterpiece.

Whether it’s a craft you’ve taught before or something you would be experimenting with, we are willing to train the right candidates with the best  attitudes around learning. If you believe in working as a team, growth mentality and finding the best in every project, this is the job for you

Our classes tend to have a party atmosphere and you will be the host Aside from the instruction, other duties include setting up for class, clean-up and checking on customers. You'll have fun sharing your passion for art and meeting different people Our customers are friendly and respectful.

Here are some ideas about who we are looking for:

You believe in generous authority and are able to hold the reigns of the room. As a Lead Artisan Teacher, it’s your responsibility to be in charge of the fun, which means making sure each Artist is confident in their crafting steps.

  • You’re a teacher and an entertainer, who is flexible on the go and accepting of any artist. We are a welcoming space and are trying to create connections to the greater community.
  • You are reliable and responsive. 
  • You are the life of the party, who can problem solve on the fly. You can handle stressful situations with grace and reassurance to the artists. You know there are no mistakes in art, only ways to show how creative the artist is.
  • You are able to teach the steps of each craft, with clear and concise directions. You feel confident speaking in front of small to medium size groups and have great time management skills to keep the party on course.
  • You know when to ask for help. You are the expert in your craft when teaching, but you know to reach out and learn from other Lead Studio Artisans when a craft is new to you. You are not embarrassed to learn like a first grader, knowing that most of our Artists will be doing these crafts for the first time. You are open to learning from a place of curiosity.
  • You are comfortable with power tools and have an eye for design. You know color theory and can assist artists in the room with their choices with confidence. The Artists will be looking to you as a leader in the room and rely on your expertise in a craft.

The work week during the summer for the following weeks will be 8:30 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday:         

                                              June 10 – June 14                                       July 8 – July 12

                                             June 17 – June 21                                       July 15 – July 19

                                             June 24 – June 28                                       July 22 – July 26

These will be the weeks of our summer camps and a teacher is needed to teach kids 6 years to 17 years of age.

Outside of summer camps the days will be flexible, as each class is based on bookings for the project. Our goal is to get artists in the door to learn from local experts in the field of crafting.

Hammer & Stain Mount Juliet is a DIY studio that offers walk-in projects from ceramics and hands-on wood projects to creating custom and charming home decor from raw materials.
