Position Overview: Full time, in-person position, that requires unbridled enthusiasm to succeed and to accomplish the daily tasks and responsibilities.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
- Track and trace domestic containers inbound to port and rail throughout continental us.
- Communicate with drayage carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Resolve any problem that may delay / prevent on-time pickup or delivery.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate transportation activities in accordance with organizational policies.
- Manage accounts by ensuring that our clients receive the best product at the most reasonable cost, while maximizing margin and network efficiency.
- Responsible for all day-to-day activities in the transportation cycle: dispatching carriers to align with our customers' needs, tracking shipments and customer reporting.
- Dispatch OTR trucks, Drayage, Intermodal and LTL carriers.
- Negotiate rates with carriers
- Provide pricing (Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, Drayage, etc.) to customers as requested.
- Post orders on load boards (i.e., DAT, Internet Truckstop, etc.).
- Review load boards for carrier capacity and availability.
- Manage and prioritize each day (i.e., email response, shipment tracking and projects).
- Construct emails, create spreadsheets and word documents.
- Promote and market Company services to new and potential customers.
- Handle full scale operations (i.e., Domestic, International, Canada, Mexico, etc.).
- Assist existing and/or referred Customers to company with logistical requests.
- Input documents / customer orders in a computerized system (TMS) in accordance with Company method as instructed by the Company.
- Assist the owner and co-workers with operational support.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- 36 months of previous brokerage-related or transportation-related experience preferred.
- Handling of international (import / export) containers related experience preferred.
- Preferred not required - Bilingual in English / Spanish (oral & written).
- Quick learner, multi-tasker, organized, detail-oriented, problem-solver.
- Strong customer service and communication skills; thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience managing/prioritizing own work assignments, and meeting deadlines.
- Requires confidence and independent decision-making skills to problem-solve, juggle competing priorities, and provide accurate and responsive customer service.
- Ability to quickly assess client situations and escalate to management when needed.
- Required computer skills, proficiency with Windows operating system, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and internet browsers. Able to learn new programs/systems quickly.
