We are a reputable law firm in downtown Jacksonville.  This position seeks an individual comfortable working in a team environment who can provide support by performing a wide variety of tasks with fellow paralegals and legal assistants under the lawyer’s direct supervision. The position requires the ability to perform duties of a responsible and confidential nature, to organize and observe confidentiality and expedite workflow of lawyers. The candidate must maintain positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff of client matters. This position requires the ability to meet challenges that lie beyond their current job responsibilities and ability to solve problems creatively with little or no supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Processing of non-immigrant visas, including H-1B, B-1, L-1, F-1, E-2, O-2, P-1, R-1 and TN visas.

Assist with permanent residency cases including, labor certifications, immigrant visa petition, adjustment of status and consular processing.

Processing visas and attainment of permanent residency through investment, employment and family-based applications.

State, Federal Bankruptcy Court, and arbitration document preparation including Motions, Notices, Summonses, Subpoenas, Proofs of Claim, etc.

Electronic filing through the Florida e-filing portal, all Florida District Court portals, all Florida bankruptcy portals, and FINRA. Simplifile e-recording.

Service of process and calendar & case management.

Trial and deposition preparation – subpoenas, document management, summarizing medical and financial records.

Court and Official Records, Asset search/due diligence, LexisNexis, and WestLaw research.

Document management, discovery pleadings including propounding & responding to interrogatories and requests for production and admissions.

Drafts, revises, finalizes and distributes all correspondence, memoranda, agreements, contracts, legal documents, briefs, charts and reports for department attorneys or executives. Corresponds with clients, Courts, and vendors (process servers, court reporters, judicial assistants, bankruptcy case managers, medical providers, financial institutions, etc.).

Must be able to ascertain matters or priority and urgency and be able to respond in a quick and efficient matter, use initiative and judgment to minimize the effect in a lawyer’s absence, and refer matters to appropriate delegated authority.

Perform special projects for attorneys.

Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

To perform this job successfully, one must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and in a manner consistent with Firm expectations.

WORK-RELATED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION:

A high school diploma or GED is required. Any college experience is beneficial but not necessary. A minimum of three (3) years of prior law firm job-related experience is necessary.
