JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Assembly Personnel:
- Performs one or mere repetitive jobs on an assembly line or sub assembly line to produce products
- Involves the insertion of materials, clamping, fitting parts, and use of some hand tools and measurement skills
- Entry level position requiring some training
Picker:
- Selects lumber grades and lengths in accordance with “pick” lists provided by truss technicians to ensure component and other saws are able to continually cut lumber
Set-Up Personnel:
- Under the direction of the foreman or crew leader this person makes necessary adjustment to the production tables or machinery to conform to the designed truss shapes or pattern
- Not normally engaged in production of the assembly but responsible for the accuracy of the assembly, as well as conformance to drawing details
- Requires several years of production experience or field construction experience
- Above average position in the shop requires attention to detail, print reading and math skills
Stacker:
- Operates on the end of the finished roller line or production line sorting trusses per type and order to keep the finished product organized
- May band or help band trusses as well as mark the types of truss, attach warning or bearing tags, make visual inspections of the truss quality
- Make sheathe gable end or nail multiple girder trusses
Catcher at Saws:
- Handles material on the off-load conveyor side of the component saw
- Cooperates with component saw operator and may be required to check material for accuracy of cutting set up
- Stacks and loads chords, web members and truss parts on shop carts or buggies
- Bands material, marks the order number and type, and moves to area for forklift or conveyor material removal
- Utilize tape measure to confirm exact length/angles on 2 x 4 material output from an automated saw
- At a fast pace, remove cut material from machine
- Grasp material and stack up neatly on a portable cart
- Wrap material for transportation
Sawyer:
- Operates one or more type saws such as the metracut saw, radial arms saw, swing saw, bevel saw, shop saw, table saw etc. for the production of specialized assembly parts
- Derives information from a building materials or cut list
Web Saw Operator:
- Similar in scope to a component saw operator, except primarily limited to web member cutting
- Can operate a small version or standard version of a component saw
- The work is typically less strenuous than that of a component saw operator since most components are limited to 2x4 material
- Similar skill requirements to a component saw operator
- Requirements: steel toe boots, 25-foot tape measure, and a smooth face framing hammer

- Monday - Thursday
- 6:30 am - 5:00 pm
- Some Fridays
- 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
- $15 - $16
