Baltimore based civil contractor is looking for a experienced mechanic to join their team.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years minimum experience required.This can be hands-on, classroom training, or a combination of both.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver's license - CDL Class A or B a plus
  • Clean driving record
    • All employees are subject to DOT drug testing and physical o DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason
    • Experience with HCSS software program a plus

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic computer skills needed to order parts and data entry into computer system
  • Possess excellent troubleshooting skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Responsible for all phases of the fleet maintenance and repair to include preventative maintenance services to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability
  • Knowledge in hydraulic repair required
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills o Maintain daily communication with driver's/operators regarding pre and post trip inspection reports and make appropriate repairs
  • Work with outside vendors to order parts and troubleshoot repairs
  • Work professionally and cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that goals are met
  • Service and repair gasoline, and diesel engines, brakes, mechanical, and air; front and rear suspensions
  • Analyze and troubleshoot engines through the use of diagnostic equipment
  • Maintain a safe, clean, productive and efficient work area as outlined in OSHA regulations
  • Diagnose all failures of equipment, remove and replace parts as necessary, and repair any and all mechanical and electrical issues that arise
  • Repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts on all equipment
  • Operating and inspecting equipment to diagnose defects
  • Reading and understanding operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Diagnosing faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics
  • Record time spent, parts used, and repairs on the appropriate forms provided as each activity is completed.
  • Immediately brings unsafe practice or conditions to the attention of the management
  • Ensures compliance of work and work area with appropriate state and federal regulations regarding safety and equipment
  • Immediately brings abnormal instances of vehicle/equipment abuse and major mechanical problems to the attention of management
  • Utilize time wisely for effective management of job
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times and appointments
  • Meet task completion deadlines established by management
  • Possess basic stick welding and tire repair skills
  • Furnish personal basic tool set
  • Experience in pneumatic and gas-powered small tool repair a plus
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Moderate walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching; heavy lifting and carrying; working outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes; working around moving objects and machinery with moving parts and high noise levels
