Job description

Forge Resources Group, a leader in the production of steel solutions for a variety of industries through custom closed die forging, hot forming, and fabrication, is looking for a Procurement Specialist in our DeKalb, IL corporate office.

The Procurement Specialist role manages raw material inputs and vendor performance to support department and company key performance indicators. Organizational growth has resulted in a requirement to expand the supply chain team. Forge Resources Group is seeking a team member dedicated to procurement per the description below:

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics or equivalent
  • 2-3+ years previous experience in procurement or related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in an MRP and ERP System such as Microsoft GP or SAP
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office programs
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Ability to work in strong team-based environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Problem solving capabilities
  • Strong technical background preferred
  • Self-starter with prioritization skills

Typical Duties:

  • Manage material resource planning to ensure material is available
  • Inventory management of materials, defining safety stock
  • Manage Vendor performance and continuously assess capabilities through KPI’s
  • Order all materials to proper specification and revisions
  • Negotiate pricing and lead times with suppliers
  • Provide monthly pricing trends and market research information
  • Forecast and manage supply demands
  • Coordinate with operations on procurement requirements
  • Create and update purchase orders in ERP system
  • Receipt of goods in ERP System
  • Follow up on material purchased, delivered against PO’s
  • Expedite product through internal as well as external processes as needed
  • Hold suppliers accountable to promised lead times
  • Specify and review suppliers based on capacity, pricing, quality and lead times
  • Follow and keep current all purchasing procedural work instructions and documentation
  • Work with Quality Department on resolving all raw material quality concerns with vendors
  • Perform other tasks, duties as assigned
