Industrial Maintenance Technician Job Description

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Industrial Maintenance Technician role is responsible to perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. Diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete work and repair orders in a timely fashion
  • Estimate time and extent of repairs
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Maintain material and supply inventory
  • Oversee work performed by outside contractors as necessary
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms.
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Will be required to serve as a backup to any other maintenance functions as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose automated, sensor driven, assemblies and automated equipment.
  • Use electrical schematics to troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· High School Diploma or equivalent is desired.

· One to three years of work experience desired.

· Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in maintenance or other related fields
  • PLC, HMI, automation training/experience
  • Familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
